About Us ~Comments~ Owned and operated by Danny Chan, Desserts by Danny TM is dedicated to selling the best cakes, pastries, and other baked goods possible. We love to make you smile! Danny's career path began in 1994 when his parents bought the Pagoda Inn, a Chinese restaurant in North Kingstown, Rhode Island. All throughout high school he spent his weekends helping his parents run the restaurant. He left for college, but returned uninspired by the Engineering and Accounting degrees he planned to pursue, and quickly returned to working full time at the restaurant. It wasn't for a few years until he finally realized his true passion: cooking and baking for others. Finally convinced by his girlfriend (now fiancée) Melanie, Danny enrolled into the Baking and Pastry program at Johnson & Wales University in Providence. He enjoyed the program immensely, and as a student was an immediate success. With multiple awards and degree in hand, Danny graduated in the spring of 2006, ready to follow his dreams. He purchased the kitchen equipment he needed and started experimenting with recipes, giving away his sweets to anyone who would eat them! The company was officially launched in December 2006, when customers of the Pagoda Inn began requesting orders of his baked goods. Since then, Danny has been adding more and more items to his delectable menu. Danny does all of his own baking, using the freshest ingredients available. His cookies are baked in small batches to ensure freshness, as he does not use any preservatives or additives. Melanie, a URI Fine Arts graduate, and his "partner in crime," does all of the advertising, graphic work, and secretarial duties needed to run the business. Although Desserts by Danny TM is currently located at the Pagoda Inn, Danny and Melanie plan to find their own business location within the next couple of years. They will also be tying the knot in 2008! |
